The Board of Selectmen is composed of five members who are elected for three-year staggered terms. The Selectmen are the Chief Executive Officers of the Town. The Board members may be reached through the office of the Executive Secretary.
The Board of Selectmen holds its regular meetings on the first and third Mondays of each month, unless otherwise posted. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at the Longfellow Municipal Center. All other meetings are posted through the office of the Town Clerk. Minutes of Meetings are posted to this website once approved by the Board.
Some of the many
responsibilities of the Selectmen include, but are not limited to: calling
town elections and approving the Town Meeting warrants; reviewing and making
recommendations to the municipal annual budget at Town Meeting; authorizing
expenditures; making appointments to municipal boards and committees;
authorizing the licensing of alcoholic beverages, restaurants and car
dealers; granting utility department requests for pole relocations; and

The Board of Selectmen appoints an Executive Secretary who is responsible for the day to day operation of the Town and serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Procurement Office for the Town. The Executive Secretary is responsible for coordinating employees and activities under the control of the Board of Selectmen as well as implementing the goals and policies set forth by the Board of Selectmen.
